Sources
The line of dancing animals is adapted from an illumination in the 14th-century manuscript, Romance of Alexander. (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS Bodl. 264, fol. 11) I have taken some artistic license with garments that are indistinct in the original. The border is adapted from a 16th-century Russian gospel book.
Materials and Techniques
You can use any even weave fabric such as Aida cloth or linen. The threads are DMC floss. Stitching uses whole cross-stitches only. Note: You can also stitch this design without the large flowered border. Simply stitch the dancers within their simpler grey border.
