Papillon Creations Flamenco printed chart

The inspiration for this sampler comes from Spain, where the beautiful antique samplers are renowned for their geometric progression of border bands.

In this sampler, as well as the borders and two antique alphabets, two of the corners and the centre are filled with square motifs reminiscent of Spanish tiles. The whole sampler has a distinctly Moorish feel, reflecting the many years that southern Spain was in the hands of the Ottoman Empire.

The sampler is worked in two colours of your choice, in full cross stitch throughout. It can be worked on Aida cloth, linen or other evenweave fabric.
